Q&A’s
What is a geriatric care manager?
A geriatric care manager is someone who has expertise helping older
adults and their families work through the challenges of aging.  Senior
Advocate care managers will locate
hard to find resources and
connect families with services in their community.

How is Senior Advocate different from a home health or companion service?
Senior Advocate works closely with services such as home health and
companion services to provide much needed care for seniors living at
home.  The difference is that we are the
point of contact for seniors
and their families.  This streamlines the process and makes our service
client-centered.  We can also set up these services and oversee them
for quality control.

Are geriatric care management services covered by any type of insurance?
There are a few long term care insurance policies that do cover this
type of care and they are typically written in newer policies.  Regular
medical insurance, including Medicare, does not currently cover care
management. The good news is that many of the services
recommended by our care managers
are covered by insurance, or are
services that are provided to community members for very little charge
and sometimes even free!
